Another cold war is about to be ignited between president of the Nigeria Football Federation ( NFF) Amaju Pinnick and the coach of the Super Eagles Gernot Rohr over the venue for the senior national team of Nigeria next international engagement.
Pinnick speaking after the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the NFF thumbs up the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium as the venue for the Super Eagles next game which is the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in March.
The decision will no doubt infuriate Rohr who believe he should have the final say on where the team play their games and he want the team to continue playing at the nest of champions in Uyo.
Rohr is of the opinion that the players are already used to the atmosphere, weather and other conditions in Uyo and moving them to another stadium for the start of what will be a tricky World Cup qualifiers might be counter productive.
The NFF are not too comfortable with Uyo despite the good playing surface at the stadium mainly because of issues with the government of the state as their relationship isn’t as smooth as it was when Godswill Akpabio was the governor.
