The Nigerian Basketball Federation has confirmed reports that Brooklyn Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie is interested in playing for Nigeria in the Olympics.
Dinwiddie, who confirmed his intention to acquire a Nigerian passport to be eligible to play for D’Tigers at the 2020 Olympics Games billed for next year, will now join the Nigeria roster under Mike Brown that also includes Al-Farouq Aminu, Josh Okogie, Chimezie Metu and Ekpe Udoh.
The federation on its Twitter handle on Tuesday confirmed that the Nigerian-American could feature for the country at the next Olympics.
“There are many top players out there who are eligible to play for us while some may also be thinking of naturalisation,” the NBBF wrote.
The 27-year-old has been averaging 20.6 points, 6.8 assists, and 2.4 rebounds this season.
Dinwiddie started 49 of 64 games for Brooklyn this season.
