Ace Sports Journalist John Dykes reveals that “Liverpool where in a mess, when Fenway Sport Group (FSG) bought the club 10-years ago.”
Dykes while explaining the bedrock of Liverpool’s success so far, stated clearly that the Merseyside club where not buoyant financially, as they were in a debt of £351 Million Pounds, before the arrival of FSG turned things around.
Dykes made this revelation in a live chat on BCOS TV with Boluwaji Ogunmola.
” If you go back 10 years that was when FSG bought Liverpool, and when they bought they club, they were in a mess they had debts of 351 million pounds, they were way down on the log, on the day they were sold, they were like 3rd from bottom. They had players that should be playing for Liverpool”
The Reds won their first Premier League title in 30-years, when Chelsea defeated former champions Manchester City by 2-1. Wrapping Liverpool’s 19th top-flight league trophy.”
Dykes this time was full of praise for Jurgen Klopp’s achievement with the team.
“Jurgen Klopp made such a great signing, when he stepped in, he said he would win a trophy for the Reds in four years time which he did, i am fascinated by the way this project have developed, the way they could dominate Manchester City so much, i remember only two years ago, city got 25 points ahead of them. I just think this is a remarkable fit attained by the club.”
Under Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool lost their first three finals. first against Manchester City in the Capital One Cup, followed by Europa League final lost against Sevilla, then that awful loss against Real Madrid in the Champions League final, where Karius made two howlers that cost them the game.
In the last 15 months, Liverpool have won four trophies, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup and the English Premier League. John Dykes attributes Liverpool success to the brilliance of both the Managers and the players.
“The players plus that charismatic Klopp energy, that all make it a special season for them”
Liverpool still has seven games to spare, they will be looking forward to smashing more records, as the season unfolds.
