Due to Liverpool’s wonderful form in recent times, the Reds have two of their most important players, Salah and Alisson Becker in the race for the Premier League Golden Boot and Golden Glove respectively.
The German tactician made it known that such awards project the efforts of the team and of course the players who win them.
He wants them to work on winning games which is their sole aim and not about the individual awards but he would like it if they can achieve both.
Klopp: “Look, if Ali wins the Golden Glove, that means we have obviously how many games with a clean sheet, which would really help us as a team.”
“If we provide the winner of the Golden Boot, that means we have a lot of goals. So that helps absolutely. My players don’t need individual targets to be the highest motivated, but they don’t disturb,” he said.
“They are absolutely rather helpful than anything else. But in the end, it’s all about winning a football game. If it would be different, I would tell them it’s not OK.”
“But in the end, it’s always first and foremost about winning a football game and not about the other stuff. But it’s nice when you can win both.”
Liverpool broke the jinx of not winning the PL trophy in 30 years and every department of the squad has highly contributed to the Reds’ supreme dominance and they can as well go on to reach the 100 point mark this term.
The Brazilian shot-stopper, who won the PL Golden Glove award last season is also looking to winning it again this season, he has appeared in 33 league games for the Merseyside Red this season so far, conceding just 22 goals and keeping 17 clean-sheets.
The 27-year-old also has the highest save percentage among all goalkeepers in the PL this term, which pretty much shows his superb form.
On the other hand, the Eygyptian winger Salah has scored 19 goals so far and is very much in the race for the Golden Boot for the third consecutive season, having won the award in 2017-18 and shared it with Sadio Mane and Aubameyang last season. He is only three goals behind the league’s highest goalscorer Jamie Vardy who is on 22 goals.
