Since Arteta took charge of the Gunners, Shkodran Mustafi has been one of the most consistent players for the team.
He’s made 11 starts out of a total of 12 games since January 1 and also keeping 5 clean-sheets.
According to Goal, Mikel Arteta wants Mustafi to sign a new deal as his current deal is set to run out next summer.
Arteta: “That’s something the club has to address but he knows my opinion.”
“I’m really happy with him as you can see. The way he’s playing, how committed he is with everything we’re trying to do, the level in his performance ever three or four days, he’s been really consistent.”
The German centre-back almost left Emirates Stadium last summer and has mostly been inefficient when in defence when he completed the move from Valencia in 2016 and also committing series of high-profile errors.
We are somewhat torn whether a new deal should be offered, simply because we have way too many centre-backs to fit into one side but there’s no doubt the level of Mustafi’s performances has skyrocketed and, he probably deserves an extension.
