The next move for out of favour Arsenal ace Mesut Ozil may be determined by promise he made to his mother two years ago it has been revealed.
The Germany international and world cup winner had reportedly promised his mother in 2018 that he will one day play for Turkish side Fenerbahce.
The former Real Madrid ace is caught in the middle between the Turkish giants and a lucrative move MLS outfit D.C United.
The 32 year old who is certain to leave the Emirates Stadium following Coach Mikel Arteta’s refusal to factor him in, is eager to fulfill promise made to his mother but at the same time weighing all the options.
Ozil, who is of Turkish descent and grew up in Germany, promised his mother Gulizar he would play there one day after his contract with the London side.
It’s said that Ozil was a fan of the Istanbul outfit as a youngster and he could soon be putting on their shirt as they are ready to offer him a three and half year deal.
The MLS negotiations on the other hand is said to have reached advanced stage. Much like they did with Wayne Rooney, the Washington outfit want to make him the face of the club and even offered to house Ozil’s ’39 Steps Coffee’ brand in their Audi Field stadium as well as give him his own merchandise line. Ozil’s agent, Erkut Sogut says the player will make a decision “within the next 10 days”.
